The Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE), comprised of 10 people, is located within Saint-Gobain’s Cloud Factory entity. To strengthen its team of architects and Cloud Success Managers (CSMs), Saint-Gobain hired a Cloud Solution Architect from Synapsys in March 2021.
The CCoE’s objective is to facilitate the implementation of the group’s business cloud projects by guiding business partners toward the CCoE’s Azure offerings that best meet their needs. To this end, the CCoE teams are a trio consisting of a Cloud Success Manager, a Cloud Solution Architect, and a SecOps engineer.
The role of the Synapsys Cloud Solution Architect involves working internationally at several levels:
The projects handled by the Cloud Center of Excellence range in complexity (from simple storage account management to data redesign to an e-commerce website).
The Cloud Solution Architect is also responsible for qualifying Azure services according to several criteria (exposure, authentication, data security, network integration, etc.) to ensure they meet business needs.
In early 2022, Saint-Gobain decided to accelerate its Cloud-First strategy and rolled out an ambitious roadmap aimed at industrializing cloud usage. In a drive for flexibility, security, and availability, Saint-Gobain is moving toward a new architecture based on a system of hubs that can be deployed in several landing zones around the world.
The Public Cloud team, composed of more than 40 people spread across several teams (CSM, Architects, Development, Operations, PMO, FinOps, Cybersecurity, AppDevOps, etc.), was then created. The position of Synapsys Cloud Solution Architect is evolving to include a new scope: the redesign of the landing zone. This mission is part of Saint-Gobain’s commitment to supporting the development of the “Saint Gobain Enterprise Cloud” foundation with a view to international industrialization.
